The first of more than 100 new affordable homes being built at the former Witney Football ground off Downs Road, Witney, have been completed.
New residents are starting to move in to the first eight of our new homes, built by Crest Nicholson as part of a 257-home development on the former football ground, which has been disused since 2013 and was demolished in 2016.
Once completed the new Cottsway scheme, named Colwell Green, will include 72 affordable rented homes and 31 shared ownership properties, as well as public open space and play facilities.
The seven homes handed over to us by Crest Nicholson are two and three-bedroom homes and are the first of several phases to be completed between now and 2022.
Our Chief Executive Vivian Rosser said: “With a high demand for affordable rental properties from people in housing need and 1,000 people on the waiting list for shared ownership in the area, we are determined to invest heavily in building new homes, as well as maintain our existing ones to a high standard.
“This latest scheme is an important one for the town and it is great see the first homes completed and residents starting to move in.
“This is the first project in a while where we have worked with Crest Nicholson, and we are delighted to be working with the company again to deliver these much-needed, quality homes.”
David Hnyda, Sales & Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson Chiltern, said: “We’re pleased to have worked alongside Cottsway Housing to deliver this selection of affordable new homes at Colwell Green. We’re expecting this development to be popular with families due to all the nearby amenities and appealing semi-rural setting, and it’s great to be welcoming the first residents.”
