Customer working group shortlisted for national award

Our Procurement Working Group has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Tpas Awards.

The group has involved seven customers at various stages, who have worked alongside staff to review our grounds maintenance contract. Together, they have set service standards, shaped tender specifications and are currently working to select the chosen contractor.

The group has been shortlisted for the Team of the Year award run by Tpas, the country’s leading tenant engagement experts. The Tpas Awards recognise excellent tenant engagement and best practice in the housing sector and winners will be announced at an online virtual award ceremony on 8 October.

Our Communities Manager Vicki Paxford, who helped set up the group, said: “It’s fabulous news to have been shortlisted for this award. It means so much because this award recognises projects that are leading the way in engagement and collaborative working with customers, which is very important to Cottsway.

“We review our contracts every few years to ensure we’re getting value for money and we wanted to ensure that customers were involved from the outset, with opportunities to tell us about their experience of the current services and what they wanted to see in the future. The customer involvement has been invaluable, and we plan for the group to help us assess future customer-facing procurement projects.”

Mr Jamieson volunteered to join the group after taking part in our customer survey in early 2020. He has been with Cottsway for over 8 years and said: “I live in a Cottsway home and pay service charges to have my garden maintained so it was good to be able to have a say and get involved in the project with the aim of improving services.

“I’ve never been involved in such a largescale procurement project which affects so many people, so the training was really useful. It was great to work alongside Cottsway staff and other customers to evaluate the six tender submissions that were received and to be involved in choosing the final contractor.

“The work we’ve done will hopefully make a positive difference – not only to where I live but for all customers who receive grounds maintenance services from Cottsway.”
