We are excited to bring you news of a new pilot project called ‘Our house’ with funding from the ‘Community Housing Fund’, working in partnership with West Oxfordshire District Council.
‘Our house’ will support single, under 35-year-old people on out of work benefits in West Oxfordshire. It will take larger properties and transform them into shared accommodation for single under 35-year olds. These participants will have the opportunity to become ‘trainee’s and train-up in specialist trades, taking on apprenticeships or accredited training to support them on their journey towards independence. They will also work with their trades tutor to renovate the property, turning the house into their home.
Trainees will be supported throughout the whole process and their journey will be tailored to their current needs and aspirations for the future. To make this a real partnership project with a real social conscience the project will work with local social enterprises and trades colleges such as ACE Training, Aspire, Synolos, Enterprise Works to name a few.
The first project house has been selected in Witney, a 3 bedroom property. Two people have already come forward who would like an opportunity to be a part of the project. There is still space for another – if you are interested, please get in touch!
